Gongfucha is an independent Chinese tea companion for iPhone. We built it for drinkers who want one steady place to learn regions, practice sensory language, follow story chapters, and steep with clarity — without noise, accounts, or clutter.
Inside the app you explore origins, map aroma and texture, quiz your curiosity, run multi-infusion timers, and keep a playful knowledge meter. Your favorites, notes, XP, and preferences stay on your device.
Gongfucha treats tea as food, craft, and culture: learn vocabulary, compare styles, and build a lighter daily ritual — not a supplement or cure. The app is not affiliated with any tea brand, garden, or tourism board. Bundled photos may include imagery attributed to Wikimedia Commons.

This Privacy Policy describes how Gongfucha (the "Application") handles information when you use our Chinese tea companion app. The Application is provided by Derek Vance, Alaska, United States ("we", "us", or "our").
Information We Collect
Gongfucha does not require an account, sign-up, or login. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, or location inside the app. We do not run third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
The following data is stored locally on your device only:
- Onboarding completion and accessibility preferences
- XP, quiz progress, badges, and knowledge score
- Favorite teas and optional tasting notes
- Taste-map and region exploration counters
- Brew-timer and Live Activity preferences you enable
How We Use Information
Because we do not collect personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to profile, share, or sell. All app features — Origins, Maps, Story & quiz, Craft timers, and Profile — operate using data stored on your device and content bundled with the Application.
Data Storage & Retention
All of your content remains in the app's private storage on your device. There is no cloud sync and no remote backup operated by us. Deleting the app permanently removes associated local data from your device.
Live Activity & Notifications
If you enable Live Activity or local brew countdown features, those use Apple's system frameworks on your device. We do not receive the content of your Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, or notification data on our servers.
Third-Party Services
Gongfucha's public tea experience does not rely on third-party content APIs such as TMDB or RAWG. Educational copy and maps ship with the app. Bundled imagery may include photos attributed to Wikimedia Commons; that attribution is for credit only and does not transmit your personal data.
The Application includes no third-party analytics, advertising networks, or marketing SDKs that report your reading or brewing activity to us.
Children's Privacy
The Application does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because no personal data is collected or transmitted to us, the app aligns with COPPA and similar child-privacy standards for general audiences.
Your Control
You can edit favorites and notes, reset onboarding, or change accessibility and Live Activity preferences at any time inside the app. Uninstalling the Application removes all stored content from your device.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect app improvements or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. The core commitment — local storage, no accounts, no sale of personal data — will not change without clear notice.
